Police in Saidpur, Nilphamari arrested five people in separate drug-related incidents between Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to police Md. Rimon of Banshbari area in the city was sentenced to one year in prison for drug use while Md. Naimur Rahman, arrested from the Saidpur Railway Station area and received a three-month sentence for the same offense.
Separately, three individuals Mona Islam (28) son of Md. Tariqul Islam Md. Raihan Islam (30) son of Alal Uddin both from Sangalshi Khamat Para under Nilphamari Sadar Police Station and Md. Saidul Islam, son of Ghotu from Bora Sangalshi Bochapara were arrested with 20 Tapentadol tablets. A case was filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act and they were sent to jail through court.
Saidpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rezaul Islam Reza confirmed the arrests.
