Police recovered the body of a van driver Md. Salauddin Sahanu (38) from the side of Chandaria canal in Boalkhali, Chattogram on Thursday morning.
The body was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Salauddin, son of the late Dela Mia from Nawab Ali Chowdhury House in Ward No. 9 of Charkhidirpur Municipality is survived by a son and a daughter. He had lived abroad for years before returning home last year and taking up work as a van driver in the area.
His wife Jotsna Akhter said Salauddin often fished in the canal near their home and had gone there around 2 am Wednesday. Locals discovered him lying face down on an erosion-control block along the canal the next morning.
Boalkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mozaffar Hossain confirmed the body's recovery and said a case of unnatural death has been filed.
