The hearing for charge framing against British MP Tulip Rizwana Siddiq and former RAJUK assistant legal advisor Sardar Mosharraf Hossain has been postponed. The case involves allegations of fraud regarding a flat in Dhaka’s Gulshan-2.
On Thursday (April 16), Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of the Dhaka Special Judge-5 Court rescheduled the hearing for May 6.
ACC lawyer Mir Ahmed Ali Salam confirmed that while the hearing was scheduled for today, the court deferred the proceedings due to judicial busyness.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) alleges that a flat belonging to Eastern Housing Limited in Gulshan-2 was occupied and registered through power abuse and collusion without any payment.
Earlier, on February 18, the court took cognizance of the charge sheet and issued arrest warrants against the accused. On April 8, the case was transferred to the Dhaka Special Judge-5 Court to begin trial proceedings. Although a High Court writ petition briefly stayed the investigation in July, the ACC eventually completed its probe and submitted the final charge sheet.
