Local authorities seized a large quantity of domestic liquor during a joint raid by the Bheramara Upazila administration and police on Saturday night.
The operation took place in Golapnagar village, under Mokarimpur union. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Dr. Gazi Ashiq Bahar, supported by Bheramara Police OC Mohammad Zahidur Rahman, raided the home of Shuvonkhar Pramanik (alias Shuvo).
During the search, officers recovered 112 bottles of local liquor hidden above a kitchen ceiling. The suspect, Shuvo, managed to flee the scene before police could apprehend him.
Local residents report that Shuvo has long controlled the drug trade in Golapnagar. Sources indicate his syndicate had recently expanded operations to coincide with the local Urs festival at the Hazrat Solaiman Shah (RA) shrine.
"Our 'zero tolerance' policy against drugs remains in effect. These drives will continue until Bheramara is drug-free," stated Dr. Gazi Ashiq Bahar. OC Mohammad Zahidur Rahman confirmed that a case is being filed and a manhunt is underway to arrest the fugitive.
