


The Bengali New Year was celebrated in Porsha, Naogaon, with traditional festivities and a colorful Baishakhi procession.
Organized by the Upazila administration, the procession began at 8:00 AM on Tuesday from the Upazila Square. Naogaon-1 MP Mostafizur Rahman attended as the chief guest, joining teachers, students, and citizens dressed in traditional attire. Under the theme “New Year’s Unity, the Resurgence of Democracy,” the march circled the main town roads before returning to the square.
Following the rally, a discussion meeting was held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rakibul Islam led the session, where MP Mostafizur Rahman spoke on the rich history and cultural significance of the Bengali New Year.
Key local figures attended the event, including Agriculture Officer Mamunur Rashid, Officer-in-Charge Ziaur Rahman, and local BNP leaders Mosharraf Hossain and Sadequl Islam. Various educational institutions in the Upazila also held independent programs to mark the day.
