


Seven people were killed and six others seriously injured when a rice-laden truck overturned on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Daudkandi early Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred around 3:10 AM in the Hasanpur area. According to police, the truck was traveling from Dinajpur to Chattogram when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to plunge into a roadside ditch.
Thirteen passengers were reportedly riding on top of the cargo at the time of the crash. Seven men died on the spot after being pinned under the vehicle. Fire service and highway police personnel conducted a rescue operation to recover the bodies and move the injured to local hospitals.
Iqbal Bahar Majumdar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daudkandi Highway Police Station, confirmed the fatalities. Five of the deceased have been identified so far: Afzal Hossain (35), Sohrab Hossain (40), Salek (45), Palash, and Bishnu (35). Most victims hailed from the Dinajpur region.
The damaged truck has been removed from the site, and traffic on the highway has returned to normal. Police stated that legal proceedings are currently underway.
