The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has warned that temporary gusty or squally winds blowing at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour are likely to sweep over five regions of the country by early afternoon.
According to an inland river port warning issued on Saturday morning, the affected regions include Rangpur, Mymensingh, Barisal, Noakhali and Sylhet.
The weather office stated that storm systems coming from the west or northwest are expected to bring heavy rain or thundershowers to these areas.
Consequently, river ports across these five regions have been advised to hoist Cautionary Signal Number 1 until 1:00 pm today to prevent any maritime accidents. Commuters and vessel operators are urged to exercise caution while navigating inland waterways.
