The Jhalakathi District BNP on Saturday observed the 45th martyrdom anniversary of party founder and former President Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam with a discussion meeting and a doa mahfil (prayer session).
The event, titled "Ziaur Rahman: The Architect of Freedom Struggle, Multi-Party Democracy, and Self-Reliant Bangladesh," was held at the Jhalakathi District Shilpakala Academy auditorium.
BNP National Executive Committee member and reserved seat MP Ziba Amina Al Ghazi attended the program as the chief guest. The discussion was presided over by District BNP Convener Advocate Syed Hossain, with District BNP Member Secretary Advocate Shahadat Hossain speaking as the special guest. Other senior local leaders, including Upazila BNP President SM Ejaz Hasan and Municipal BNP President Nasimul Hasan Khan, also addressed the gathering.
Speakers at the seminar highlighted Ziaur Rahman’s patriotism, his contributions to post-independence state-building, and his role as a sector commander during the 1971 Liberation War. They emphasized his political philosophy regarding national development and the reintroduction of multi-party democracy in Bangladesh.
The program concluded with a special prayer session seeking eternal peace for the soul of the late president. A large number of grassroots leaders and activists from the BNP and its front organizations attended the event.
