Under the slogan “Against drugs, let’s go to war,” a voluntary organization named "Batighar" staged an anti-drug and anti-online gambling rally and human chain in Morelganj upazila today.
At 11:00 AM on Saturday, citizens from all walks of life gathered on the premises of Tetulbaria Secondary School. Carrying banners, festoons, and placards with anti-drug messages, the demonstrators marched a rally through key roads of the local market.
Following the hour-long march, a human chain was formed where community leaders spoke out against the rising grip of addiction and illegal digital gambling apps. The speakers included Batighar President Sirajul Islam, General Secretary Lecturer Wadut Howlader, Union BNP President Golam Rasul Babul, Jamaat leader Assistant Professor Maulana Sarwar Hossain and local socio-cultural representatives.
A moving highlight of the event occurred during the human chain when a local student, Jannatul Arefin Jinia read an open letter addressed to her father appealing for family and community awareness to save the youth from the devastating clutches of drug addiction.
