


The Porsha Upazila unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a discussion meeting and a prayer session on Saturday afternoon to observe the 45th death anniversary of party founder and former President Ziaur Rahman.
The event, held at the Saraigachi Mor Kalinagar Government Primary School ground, was presided over by Porsha Upazila BNP Acting President Motahar Hossain and moderated by Joint General Secretary Shakil Jabed.
BNP central leader for the Naogaon-1 constituency, Md. Mostafizur Rahman, attended the gathering as the chief guest. Upazila BNP General Secretary Sadequl Islam spoke as the keynote speaker, alongside special guests including Organizing Secretary Abul Hossain Babu and former Senior Vice President Taufiqur Rahman Chowdhury.
Addressing the audience, chief guest Md. Mostafizur Rahman described Ziaur Rahman as the pioneer of multi-party democracy in Bangladesh. He lauded former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia's uncompromising struggle for democratic rights and stated that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is successfully steering the country forward. He urged all grassroots leaders and activists to settle internal differences, maintain unity, and dedicate themselves to public service.
The program concluded with a special prayer service for the eternal peace of Ziaur Rahman's soul and the welfare of the nation. Senior local leaders from the BNP, Jubo Dal, and other associate organizations were present.
