


Local leaders, activists, and citizens gathered at the Laxmipur Town Hall auditorium on Saturday afternoon to observe the 45th death anniversary of BNP founder and former President Ziaur Rahman.
Advocate Abul Khair Bhuiyan, Advisor to the BNP Chairman, attended the memorial service as the chief guest. The discussion meeting was presided over by Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee, with Jatiya Sangsad Whip Ashraf Uddin Nijan, Shahadat Hossain Selim, and Laxmipur District Council Administrator Shahab Uddin Sabu speaking as special guests.
Addressing the gathering, the speakers highlighted Ziaur Rahman's pivotal contributions to the 1971 Liberation War, his introduction of multi-party democracy, and his socio-economic reforms that steered Bangladesh toward self-reliance. They emphasized that his legacy of development and nation-building remains a guiding light for the country.
The event commenced with a special prayer (munajat) seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of the former president. Marking the occasion, organizers distributed food, sarees, and lungis among local under-privileged and helpless families.
