Fugitive Accused in Multiple Cases Arrested at Nageshwari Fuel Pump

Police arrested a fugitive, wanted in at least three criminal cases, while he was refueling his vehicle at a pump in Nageshwari on Monday morning.

The arrestee, identified as Rabiul Islam Roni, son of Mujibar Rahman from Sonair Khamar, was apprehended around 11:00 AM at the Julekha Fuel Pump in the Raiganj area.

According to police records, Roni is a primary accused in several violent incidents, including an attempted murder case filed by Moktar Hossain. That case stems from a January 13 attack where Roni and his associates allegedly intercepted and critically injured a man named Amjad Hossain with sharp weapons. Amjad had to be moved to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment due to the severity of his injuries.

In addition to this assault, Roni faces charges for an assassination attempt on Raiganj UP Chairman Arifuzzaman Dwip Mandal, as well as separate allegations of attempted land grabbing and house vandalism.

Nageshwari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Hil Zaman confirmed that Roni was arrested specifically in connection with Moktar Hossain's case. Following his arrest, he was produced before a court and subsequently sent to jail.
