In response to the ongoing global energy crisis, the Gopalganj District Administration has taken a proactive initiative to ensure a more efficient, transparent, and coordinated fuel distribution system. As part of this effort, a ‘Tag Officer’ has been assigned to each filling station across the district to oversee operations directly—an initiative considered both timely and innovative at the local level.
The directive was officially issued on Sunday (March 29, 2026), through an emergency order signed by Additional District Magistrate Faria Tanzin. According to the administration, the primary objective of this measure is to closely monitor global fuel dynamics and ensure fair and proper distribution at the local level.
Under this system, the appointed Tag Officers will be responsible for supervising fuel stock, sales activities, and compliance with government regulations at their respective filling stations. The move is expected to enhance discipline in fuel distribution and prevent irregularittimes
To strengthen oversight, the district administration has also established a dedicated monitoring cell. Additional District Magistrate Faria Tanzin stated, “This step has been taken to reinforce supervision and coordination in fuel management. In addition to ensuring the presence of Tag Officers at each station, the administration will conduct regular surprise inspections.”
The administration further warned that any attempt to create artificial shortages, engage in hoarding, or violate distribution rules will result in strict legal action against those responsible. Officials believe that this coordinated approach will help maintain a stable and uninterrupted fuel supply for the public.
The order has come into effect immediately, and the appointed Tag Officers will continue to carry out their duties until further notice.
