Md. Didar Mahmud, General Secretary of the Char Ramni Mohan Union unit of Chhatra Dal, has been expelled for allegedly violating party discipline.

The expulsion was announced late Monday (March 30) night via a press release signed by the President and General Secretary of the Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila (West) Chhatra Dal. The move has sparked immediate backlash and mixed reactions among local party grassroots.

Following the announcement, several party leaders took to social media to voice their dissent, highlighting Didar’s contributions during the "July Movement" and past anti-government struggles.

Mujahidul Islam Shamim, Joint Convener of Sadar Upazila (West) Chhatra Dal, questioned the consistency of party discipline. "Didar was on the front lines during the national election and the July Movement. We are not above mistakes, but while identified miscreants roam free, dedicated workers are being pushed out. Expulsion is not the solution," he stated.

RN Raju, Joint Convener of College Chhatra Dal, echoed these sentiments, noting that Didar remained active on the streets even after being injured in political clashes. "When it was difficult to find 20 people for a procession, Didar was there. Today, opportunists are guarding leaders' houses while the street fighters are being sidelined," Raju wrote.

The expelled leader, Didar Mahmud, claims the move is a retaliation for his stance against local corruption. "I was expelled because I protested the irregularities of local UP member Nayan Begum. This is an injustice against a dedicated worker," he claimed.

Providing further context, Mizanur Rahman Mizan, General Secretary of Sadar Upazila (West) Chhatra Dal, noted that the expulsion followed directives from the Lakshmipur-2 constituency leadership and the Sadar Thana BNP.

However, Advocate Mahbubur Rahman Khokon, Convener of Sadar Upazila (West) BNP, maintained that the decision was necessary. "Didar committed a serious breach of the party’s chain of command. Discipline is non-negotiable," he said.
