A formal complaint has been filed alleging the illegal felling of trees on land owned by Adventure Ship Builders Ltd. in Timirkathi village, Nalchiti. The accusation names Zia Majhi, Riaz Majhi, and Ramiz Majhi, along with 10–12 unidentified individuals from the Char Timirkathi area.

According to the complaint, approximately 20–25 trees, valued at an estimated 3 lakh BDT, were cut down on February 28 under the leadership of Zia Majhi.

The situation escalated on Sunday, March 29, when tree cutting reportedly resumed. When the site caretaker attempted to intervene, he was allegedly threatened with death. Following this, Md. Abul Basar, Manager of Adventure Ship Builders, filed a written complaint with the Nalchiti Police Station.

Md. Nizam Uddin, owner of Adventure Ship Builders, stated that since August 5, 2024, his property has faced repeated attacks. He alleged that Zia Majhi’s group previously vandalized the company’s office and guest house, and looted fish from their enclosures.

"An extortion case is already pending against Zia at the Nalchiti Police Station," Nizam Uddin said. "Now they are cutting down my trees. I am seeking immediate intervention from the administration."

Ariful Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalchiti Police Station, confirmed receipt of the complaint. "We have received the written statement and will take necessary legal action following a thorough investigation," he said.
