


A district-level seminar on improving primary education quality in Jhalakathi, along with a reception honouring 141 meritorious scholarship students from the 2025 Primary Scholarship Examination was held Thursday at the District Shilpakala Academy.
Organized by the District Administration and District Primary Education Office in collaboration with the District Council, Municipality and Upazila Councils, the event was attended by Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Health Dr. SM Ziauddin Haider as chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Md. Momin Uddin presiding.
The seminar discussed ways to improve primary education quality, nurture students' talents and enhance the learning environment followed by recognition of the scholarship recipients.
Sharing his personal journey Mr. Ziauddin Haider encouraged students to dream big, telling them a future doctor, engineer or scientist may be hidden within them. "Dreams are not what people see in their sleep, dreams are what keep people awake" he said and recalling how he rose from a rural primary school in Jhalakathi to work across 62 countries.
He urged students to embrace hard work, curiosity and a love of reading, saying "Make books your best friend." He encouraged them not to fear mistakes with comparing life's setbacks to a child learning to walk and stressed humility also helping weaker classmates and standing against injustice.
Special guests included District Council Administrator Advocate Md. Shahadat Hossain, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Additional SP SM Bayezid Ibne Akbar, District BNP Convener Advocate Syed Hossain and District Primary Education Officer Md. Shahinul Islam Majumder along with several administrative officials, educators and students.
