The local administration has handed over Tk.45,000 in emergency financial assistance to a family whose home was destroyed in a fire in Nalchity municipality under Jhalakathi district.
Nalchity Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Pratik Kumar Kundu handed over the cash grant on Wednesday to the victim, A. Razzaq Howlader Farhad. The aid was organized jointly by the Jhalakathi district administration, Nalchity upazila administration, and Nalchity municipality.
The fire broke out on September 11 at Farhad's tin-shed residence in the Suryapasha area, causing estimated losses of around Tk 17 lakh in cash, jewelry, and household belongings. Although the Nalchity Fire Service dispatched a unit immediately, poor road conditions caused the fire engine to get stuck en route, leaving firefighters unable to save the house from being completely gutted.
Local officials and community leaders visited the site shortly after the incident to assess the damage. Along with handing over the initial cash grant, UNO Pratik Kumar Kundu assured the family of further administrative support to help rebuild their home. Local residents expressed appreciation for the prompt assistance provided by the administration.
