Khadija Mallick Seemu, the wife of former Dinajpur-6 MP Shibli Sadiq, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Zia Heart Foundation on Monday night following an apparent suicide attempt.

Sources say Seemu took an overdose of sleeping pills around 8:00 PM on March 30, shortly after posting a distressing message on Facebook detailing seven years of marital hardship.

In her post, Seemu alleged long-term mental and physical distress, stating she could no longer endure "injustice" that reportedly began months after her marriage in 2019. "I was strong enough... but now I need rest," she wrote, while apologizing to her parents and asking for prayers for her child.

Family members claimed she had been struggling with mental health issues and was already prescribed sleeping medication, but took an excessive dose on Monday.

Shibli Sadiq, who previously married singer Salma in 2011 before their 2016 divorce, has been in hiding since recent political shifts. Efforts to reach him or his family for comment were unsuccessful. Seemu is currently under close medical observation.
