In Sreepur upazila of Gazipur, journalist Shihab Khan of ATN News and Daily Manabkantha has alleged that local BNP leader and union member Nurul Alam threatened to break his leg for reporting on a road built with substandard bricks.
Shihab said, he visited a road construction site in Gazipur village on Monday and filmed the use of low-quality materials. Soon after, Nurul Alam allegedly called and threatened him. Fearing for his safety, Shihab filed a complaint at Sreepur Police Station, which police confirmed receiving.
Local residents claimed the road, supervised by Nurul Alam, uses poor materials and benefits only one household. Alam later told journalists he made the remarks “out of anger.”
The Sreepur Journalists’ Association condemned the threat and demanded justice, while Gazipur Union Parishad Administrator Mahbub Alam said action would be taken.
