University authorities said an investigation is underway to determine the extent of the damage and the cause of the fire in detail.
The incident comes amid a series of recent fire outbreaks across the country — including one at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport’s cargo section earlier on Saturday, a factory fire at Chattogram EPZ on October 16, and another mill fire in Tangail’s Ghatail the same night. Just days earlier, on October 14, 16 people were killed in a devastating blaze at a chemical warehouse and garment factory in Mirpur’s Rupnagar area.
