While passing through the Doripara area of Kaliganj upazila in Gazipur, the two rear coaches (coaches) of the Dhaka-bound Egara Sindhur Prabhati train suddenly separated. However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
The incident took place on the Tongi-Bhairab railway line at around 10:15 am on Monday (January 5).
Railway sources said that when the hook of the joint of the 'G' coach at the rear of the train came loose while it was moving, the 'G' and 'G' coaches separated from the main train. Immediately after the incident, the railway staff reconnected the two coaches. After that, the train started its journey towards Dhaka. Since the Tongi-Bhairab railway line is double-lined, train movement was maintained normally using an alternative line at that time. As a result, there was no major disruption in train movement on that route.
Railway authorities say there was no damage in the incident.
Confirming the incident, Police Inspector Nazim Uddin, in-charge of Narsingdi Railway Police Outpost, said, “The incident of the bogie derailment is being investigated.”
