Hanif, a notorious drug dealer from Gawdia, Louhjang, arrested

A housewife has been brutally tortured and attempted to be killed in Louhjang upazila of Munshiganj over dowry demands. Police have arrested Hanif Madbar, who is known as a drug dealer in this incident.

According to the complaint filed with Louhjang Police Station, the victim Mukta Akhter (26) filed a complaint against her husband Hanif Madbar and four others. The complaint states that the accused Hanif had been physically and mentally torturing his wife for dowry money for a long time at the instigation of family members.

The complaint states that the victim's family had previously paid two lakh taka in cash to sustain the family. Still, the torture did not stop. The latest on the morning of February 1, when another one lakh taka was demanded, Mukta Akhter refused to pay the money. Enraged by this, the accused started abusing her.

The complaint further states that Hanif Madbar hit the victim in various parts of his body, including his eyes and face, with an iron pipe and a shovel, causing serious injuries. In addition, the mother-in-law, father-in-law and Satin participated in the torture by punching, kicking, pulling and pulling her hair. At one stage, the complaint also states that they tried to strangle her to death with an iron chain and a veil.

Hearing the victim's screams, locals came forward to rescue her and admitted her to the Louhajang Upazila Health Complex. After receiving treatment, she went to the police station and filed a complaint.

The incident has created a huge sensation in the area. The victim has demanded exemplary punishment against the accused.

In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Louhajang Police Station Monir said that upon receiving the information, the police conducted a raid on the spot and arrested the accused Hanif Madbar. He further said that the police of the police station are always alert to maintain the law and order situation in Louhajang Upazila.
