National Social Service Day-2026 was celebrated in Atrai, Naogaon with the theme "Technology and Equality, Welfare and Equality Trust". A discussion meeting and introspection program was organized jointly by the Upazila Administration and Upazila Social Service Office at 11 am on Saturday (January 3) at the Upazila Parishad Hallroom.
It is worth noting that the day could not be celebrated on January 2 due to the state mourning for the death of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. It was celebrated with due dignity yesterday, Saturday (January 3), as a post-mourning program. Upazila Women's Affairs Officer Md. Moazzem Hossain presided over the program, with Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Noor Alam Siddique present as the chief guest.
The chief guest said in his speech that the Department of Social Services is working tirelessly for the welfare of the helpless, distressed and backward people of the country. Through the proper use of technology, it is possible to reach the doorsteps of the people today. Our goal should be to ensure that social service is not limited to official work but to serve the people from a humanitarian and social responsibility. We have to keep a vigilant eye on ensuring that only deserving people get these government facilities.
Speeches were delivered by Upazila Social Service Officer Sohel Rana, Youth Development Officer Nasir Uddin and Upazila Assistant Election Officer Md. Imran Hossain, Atrai Thana Press Club President Faridul Alam Pintu, beneficiaries of the social safety net Siraj Uddin and Abul Kalam Azad. The speakers highlighted the importance of the government's social security program and emphasized its equitable distribution.
