Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a young man on charges of smuggling near the Nitpur border in Porsha Upazila on Saturday evening.

The arrest was made by a patrol team from the Nitpur Border Outpost (BOP) under Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB) during a raid in the Nitpur Diyarapara area around 7:30 pm.

The arrestee has been identified as Naseeb, 23, son of the late Shafiqul Islam, a resident of Nitpur Bangalpara.

Major Shafiqur Rahman, Acting Commander and Additional Director of 16 BGB, stated that the special patrol, led by Havildar Al Amin, intercepted the suspect and recovered two bottles of foreign liquor in his possession.

The suspect was later handed over to Porsha Police Station, where a case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act. Major Rahman emphasized that the BGB remains on high alert and will continue its strict operations against cattle lifting, drug trafficking, and illegal border crossings along the Naogaon and Chapainawabganj frontiers.
