Police have recovered the body of a youth in a sack from the Halishahar Anandabazar Sagarpar area of Bandar Police Station in Chattogram City. The body was recovered from a drain on Monday (January 12) morning.
Local sources said that the deceased youth's name is Jayanta Das. Police and locals said that some local residents saw a sacked body next to the drain at around 10 am on Monday. Later, when the matter came to light, the Bandar Police Station was informed. After receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the body.
Bandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abdur Rahim said, "The body has been recovered and sent to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Initially, his identity could not be confirmed."
However, a local source said that the deceased's name is Jayanta Das. His home is in Gopalganj district. It is known that he currently lives in a house next to the Ajmia Mosque in the Anandabazar area of Halishahar. Locals believe that the young man may have been killed, stuffed in a sack and dumped in a drain.
