


The police have arrested an identified and professional drug dealer with 145 pieces of green Yaba in the ongoing zero tolerance drive against drugs in Paikgachha upazila of Khulna.
The arrested person is Md. Abdus Salam Munna (40), father of Md. Intaz Ali Molla, a resident of Laskar Union. According to police information, he is a long-time drug dealer and an arrest warrant was issued against him in a drug case before.
Police sources said that there is an arrest warrant against the arrested Abdus Salam Munna in a drug case number GR 181/18 (Paikgachha). Although he has been absconding for a long time, he was arrested red-handed with Yaba on Saturday evening at around 8:30 pm, based on secret information, during a raid at a specific place in Laskar Union.
The operation was led by Paikgachha Police Station Sub-Inspector Kamruzzaman. ASI Anis accompanied him in the operation. During the operation, 145 pieces of Yaba were recovered from the body of the detainee, which have been seized through legal process.
Paikgachha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Golam Kibria said, “The detainee is an identified drug dealer. There are multiple charges against him and there was an arrest warrant in the drug case number GR 181/18. The police operation against drugs is ongoing. No drug dealer will be spared. Strict action will be taken by bringing them under the law.”
Police said that during interrogation, the detainee admitted to being involved in drug trade. A new case is under process against him under the Narcotics Control Act and he will be handed over to the court after preparing the necessary documents.
Meanwhile, the locals expressed satisfaction with the strict operation of the police. They said that the environment and youth of the area were being severely damaged due to drug dealers for a long time. If such consistent and rigorous police operations continue, it will be possible to eradicate drugs.
