A dredger owner was arrested while illegally mining sand from the Tetulia River in Bhola. The name of the arrested person is Md. Harun (55).
He is the son of Md. Sultan Ahmed, a resident of Bapta area of Bhola Sadar Upazila. He was arrested while illegally mining sand from the Tetulia River in Jaya Gram of Gangapur Union of Borhanuddin Upazila of Bhola at 12:30 pm on Sunday.
Borhanuddin Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ranjit Chandra Das confirmed this information and said, "We are conducting a campaign based on secret information. During this time, a person named Md. Harun was arrested along with a dredger while illegally extracting sand from the Tetulia River.
Later, the dredger owner was fined 1.5 lakh taka through a mobile court under the Sand Mahal and Land Management Act, 2010. And he was also warned not to commit such crimes. He also said that their regular campaign against sand extraction from the Tetulia River will continue.
