


A union BNP leader named Biru Molla (48) was shot dead by his cousin in Pabna's Ishwardi over a land dispute.
The incident took place on Wednesday (December 17) morning in Kamalpur village of Laxmikunda union of the upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ishwardi police station Md. Mominuzzaman confirmed this information.
The deceased Biru Molla is the son of Abul Molla of Kamalpur village and is the convener of Laxmikunda union BNP.
According to local and police sources, Biru Molla's cousin Zahurul Molla dug soil from their family's disputed land on Tuesday. Biru Molla went to Zahurul Molla's house with people this morning to discuss the matter. At one stage of the conversation, an argument broke out, after which Zahurul Molla and his son fired blank shots and asked them to leave. When they did not leave, they fired again at them and Biru Molla was shot in the head and died on the spot.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station Mominuzzaman said that they had gone to talk about a family dispute. But they were shot from inside the house. The body has been recovered and sent to the hospital. Legal action is being taken in this regard.
