A mother and son were killed when Mahendra overturned at the Vhairabnagar intersection of Tala upazila on the Khulna-Satkhira highway. The tragic accident occurred on Tuesday (December 16) afternoon.
The deceased were Sharmin (35), wife of Abdus Salam of Bhomra union of Satkhira Sadar Upazila, and her son Mustakim (10).
Eyewitnesses said that the deceased Sharmin's father's house was in Khalilnagar village of Tala upazila. From his father's house, the mother and son left for their in-laws' house in Mahendra. On the way, when they reached Vhairabnagar intersection, the Mahendra lost control while giving way to a motorcycle and overturned. At that time, the mother and son died on the spot after being crushed under Mahendra.
In this regard, Tala Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sheikh Md. Nurullah said that he went to the spot after receiving the news of the accident. Initially, it was learned that the Mahindra overturned while giving way to a motorcycle. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital. Locals rescued the injured and sent them to the hospital.
