


A severe road accident in Chattogram's Sitakunda area this evening (November 16) resulted in the deaths of at least five people and left 20 others injured.
The fatal crash occurred around 6:15 pm on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at the Battala area. According to Kumira Highway Police In-Charge Md Zakir Rabbani, a Chattogram-bound bus lost control, violently rammed into a covered van parked stationary on the highway, and subsequently fell into a roadside ditch.
Four people died instantly at the scene. One additional person succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to the hospital. Three of the deceased have been identified: Md Shah Alam (55, from Cumilla), Police Constable Md Kamal (45, from Feni), and Md Joshim (30, from Chattogram). The identities of the other two victims are pending. Of the 20 injured, 12 received immediate primary medical treatment and were discharged.
Sitakunda Fire Service and Highway Police quickly arrived at the site for rescue operations. Authorities have confirmed that legal action is being taken regarding the accident.
