Around 100 international flights have been canceled at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram since February 28, following the escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
Airport Public Relations Officer Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil confirmed that the cancellations occurred between February 28 and March 11. He cited the partial closure of airfields in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Doha due to the ongoing regional war as the primary cause.
On Wednesday (March 11) alone, five flights were suspended. These included two arrival and two departure flights to Dubai by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and one US-Bangla Airlines departure to the Middle East.
Despite the disruptions, some services remain operational. On Wednesday, 13 flights—eight arrivals and five departures—successfully transported passengers. Airport authorities noted that operations by Biman Bangladesh, Air Arabia, and US-Bangla Airlines from Sharjah, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi have begun showing signs of returning to normal.
