


Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Friday aiming to elevate bilateral, strategic and economic ties between the two nations.
During the meeting, President Xi assured full support for Bangladesh’s new government. He expressed China's readiness to expand high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and emphasized tapping into new collaborative potential in the green economy, digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence.
The meeting with President Xi followed a successful bilateral dialogue on Thursday between Prime Minister Rahman and Chinese Premier Li Qiang, which culminated in the signing of 13 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). According to PMO spokesperson Mahdi Amin, the agreements span multiple sectors, strategically focusing on trade, investment, employment and major development projects.
Earlier on Friday morning, the Prime Minister accompanied by his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman paid homage to Chinese revolutionary heroes by placing a wreath at the Monument to the People's Heroes in Tiananmen Square, where he received a state salute. He also held discussions with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the National People's Congress.
Maintaining a focused approach to foreign diplomacy, PM Rahman undertook this four-day official visit with a concise 25-member delegation comprising key ministers and advisers. This marks his second official overseas tour since assuming office following a recent visit to Malaysia.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to depart Beijing for Dhaka on Friday evening.
