A colorful "Dhaka Heritage Cycle Rally" was held in the capital on Friday (August 14) to celebrate the 416th anniversary of the historic city.
Organized by the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), the rally kicked off in the morning from the historic Dhaka Gate and concluded at Nagar Bhaban.
State Minister for Road Transport, Habibur Rashid Habib, attended the event as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized that there is no alternative to civic awareness from all residents to transform Dhaka into a modern and livable city.
He further reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring the safety of every citizen in Dhaka, protecting youth from drug abuse, and building an eco-friendly green city.
Also speaking at the event, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Abdus Salam noted that many residents fail to truly embrace the city due to a lack of deep connection with its history, heritage, and culture. As a result, civic consciousness and personal responsibility regarding essential urban issues such as waste management, mosquito control, traffic management, and overall environmental protection have yet to reach the desired level.
