A two-day inter-university technology festival, the ‘DUET CSE Carnival 2026,’ began on Friday at the Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) in Gazipur. Organized by the university's Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department, the event aims to showcase the technological skills and innovative capabilities of students nationwide.
The festival commenced with a vibrant inauguration at the campus's Shaheed Shakil Parvez Auditorium. Over a hundred teams from various public and private universities are participating in this year's carnival, which features four core segments: an ICT Olympiad, an AI Hackathon, Project Showcasing and a Programming Competition. These events offer students a practical platform to translate theoretical knowledge into real-world technological solutions.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, DUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Iqbal emphasized the critical need for tech-focused education. "Today's youth must be equipped with advanced technological knowledge to navigate the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution," he stated. "This carnival serves as a unique platform to foster research-oriented thinking and innovation."
The session was presided over by Professor Dr. Momtaz Begum, Head of the CSE Department. DUET Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Arefin Kawsar and Registrar Professor Dr. Abu Tayyab were also in attendance, alongside faculty members and students. Bangladesh Bulletin is the official media partner for the event.
The technology festival will conclude on Saturday evening with a formal closing ceremony and prize distribution for the competition winners.
