2,500 Farmers Receive Free Seeds, Fertilizers, and Seedlings in Paikgachha

To support agricultural rehabilitation and boost local crop production, the government distributed free agricultural inputs including fertilizers, seeds and coconut seedlings to farmers in Paikgachha, Khulna under a state incentive program on Thursday.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wasiuzzaman Chowdhury formally inaugurated the distribution drive at the Upazila Agriculture Office.

During the initiative, 2,500 farmers each received a comprehensive farming package consisting of 5 kg of Aman paddy seeds, 10 kg of DAP (Di-ammonium Phosphate) and 10 kg of MOP (Muriate of Potash) fertilizers. Furthermore, 7,700 coconut seedlings, along with supporting poles and organic cow dung fertilizer, were distributed. Of these seedlings, 65 percent were allocated directly to farmers while 35 percent were provided to local institutions.

Speaking as the chief guest UNO Chowdhury highlighted the government's commitment to enhancing agricultural output. He urged the recipient farmers to ensure the proper use of these incentives to maximize crop yields. He also directed Agriculture Department officials to strengthen field-level monitoring and supervision to guarantee the program's success.

The event was presided over by Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Ekramul Hossain. Other notable attendees included Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Saikat Mallik, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Partha Pratim Roy the Agricultural Extension Officer SM Monirul Islam, and Plant Conservation Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Bishwajit Das.
