


The School of Law at Bangladesh Open University (BOU) held the orientation program for its 13th batch of LLB (Honours) students at the university’s main campus in Gazipur on Friday.
BOU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan attended as the chief guest. Addressing the freshers, he highlighted BOU's role in broadening access to higher education both nationally and internationally. He urged students to build their legal careers on a foundation of ethics, historical awareness and a commitment to justice.
"Alongside law, students should study history, philosophy and modern technology including artificial intelligence to help build a humane and disciplined society," Prof. Khan said.
Dean of the School of Law Professor Dr. Nahid Ferdousi chaired the event while BOU Registrar (In-charge) T M Ahmed Hossain attended as a special guest.
Gazipur District and Sessions Judge Gazi Delwar Hossain delivered the keynote address also discussing the evolution of legal education in Bangladesh with the importance of updating academic curriculum and the practical challenges of the legal profession.
Faculty members welcomed the new cohort, offering guidance on professional ethics, academic discipline and essential legal skills. Around 100 newly admitted students along with university teachers and senior officials attended the ceremony.
