In an official statement released on Friday via X, security authorities in the holy capital confirmed that security personnel intervened immediately to apprehend the individual.
“Security authorities in the holy capital arrested a person for harassing passersby and spreading fear and panic among them, and he was dealt with immediately” the statement read, adding that, “The security authorities confirm that there is no truth to the claims being circulated regarding the incident.”
The clarification followed widespread online speculation alleging that a suspect wearing an explosive vest had approached the Kaaba the sacred structure at the center of the Grand Mosque before being restrained by security officers.
Saudi officials did not disclose further details regarding the suspect's identity or motives but reaffirmed that the Grand Mosque remains secure and the suicide bombing claims are entirely unfounded.
