Coslab Personal Care Ltd, the manufacturer of Bangladeshi skincare brand skin’O, has brought in South Korean cosmetics expert Dr Junoh Kim as a consultant to strengthen its research and development (R&D) capacity. The move comes as local cosmetics and personal-care manufacturers seek to build stronger formulation and technology capabilities to develop higher-value products and compete in international markets. Dr Kim, who has more than 30 years of experience in cosmetic formulation, ingredients, advanced delivery systems and technology innovation, will work with Coslab’s R&D teams in Dhaka and Seoul. He will focus on advanced formulations, product innovation and technology development, according to the company. Dr Kim spent about 22 years at the R&D centre of South Korean beauty giant AMOREPACIFIC, where he worked on skincare formulations, cosmetic ingredients and technologies including nanotechnology, liposomes, nanoparticles and transepidermal delivery systems. AMOREPACIFIC’s brands include Innisfree, COSRX, HERA and LANEIGE. He later held senior R&D positions at Intercos Korea and Shinsegae Intercos Korea. From 2020 to 2025, he served as senior vice president of Shinsegae International, overseeing technology strategy, product innovation and advanced R&D initiatives. He holds a PhD in Polymer Engineering from Seoul National University and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Chemistry from Sogang University. His research work has resulted in more than 30 international scientific publications and over 60 patents, according to Coslab. Dr Kim will work with around 20 chemists and pharmacists at Coslab’s research facilities in Dhaka and Seoul. The company said the collaboration would help develop its R&D team and strengthen local capabilities in advanced cosmetic formulation and product development. Besides skin’O, Coslab conducts research and manufacturing for brands including Innsaei, Daily Bath and Inbeauty. Coslab said it aims to develop technology-driven cosmetics locally and eventually expand into international markets.
