Saidpur Police in Nilphamari arrested three motorcycle thieves and recovered a stolen bike from the Lakshmanpur Balapara area on Wednesday marking their second successful anti-theft raid in just two days.
The arrestees were identified as Md. Mehedi Hasan, Md. Jamil Islam and Md. Ashik Babu all hailing from Chirirbandar Upazila in Dinajpur.
According to police, the raid was launched following a complaint by Ziaul Rahman, a retired army member from the Purbachal Residential Area whose 100cc motorcycle was stolen on September 21. Following the raid, police recovered the vehicle and the owner subsequently identified it at the station.
This operation follows a separate raid conducted on Tuesday morning (September 29) in the Motir Mor area where police recovered three stolen motorcycles and arrested two individuals—Md. Sabbir Hossain, the accused thief and Md. Farhad Hossain, the buyer. Both were remanded to jail custody.
Saidpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rezaul Islam Reza confirmed that four stolen motorcycles have been recovered across the two consecutive operations. He added that regular cases have been filed against the arrestees and they are being produced before the court.
