


Prime Minister Tarique Rahman left Dhaka today for a daylong visit to Feni also his first since taking office.
He left his Gulshan residence by road at around 8:40am for Parshuram upazila, said Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu.
At about 12:30pm, he will inaugurate the first phase of the Muhuri-Kohua Flood Control, Drainage and Irrigation Project at the Kheyaghat-Muhuri Bridge area. He will then exchange greetings with local people.
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the Tk.1,542.16 crore project on June 16. It includes Rehabilitating 67.92 km of embankments, Protecting 11.73 km of riverbanks, Re-excavating 83.50 km of rivers and water bodies, Rehabilitating 27 irrigation structures and Building 77 inlets.
Later at about 1:30pm, the Prime Minister will join a tree-plantation programme at Begum Khaleda Zia Women's College in Fulgazi. He will then visit the Fulgazi District Council Dak Bungalow to inaugurate electricity supply to the national grid from its rooftop solar system.
Government buildings in Fulgazi, Parshuram and Chhagalnaiya upazilas have solar systems with a combined capacity of 962.5 kilowatts. Chhagalnaiya has 415 kW, Parshuram 298 kW and Fulgazi 249 kW.
At about 3:30pm, he will attend a programme at Fulgazi Government Pilot High School ground. There he will distribute Family Cards and Farmer Cards and give honorariums to mosque imams, muezzins, khadims and workers at other places of worship.
In Fulgazi, 510 people will receive Family Cards while 7,643 people across the district will receive Farmer Cards. Honorariums will go to 238 imams, muezzins, khadims and priests in Fulgazi.
The Prime Minister will also address a public gathering at the venue.
