Friday marks the fifth death anniversary of Alhaj Dr. A.K.M. Kawser Hossain, a veteran journalist and founding president of the Bheramara Press Club. Programmes have been organised to remember him.
He was also a correspondent for the Daily Ittefaq and vice-chairman of the Bheramara municipality.
Kawser Hossain died on October 2, 2021 at 6:30pm at his home near the Government Girls' School in the Madhya Bazar area of Bheramara.
Known as a pious and honest man, he earned the respect and affection of the community and fellow journalists. Colleagues remember him as humble, friendly and free from arrogance or greed. He mixed easily with people from all walks of life.
Thousands of people attended his funeral prayer (Janaza) at the Bheramara Government College ground, a turnout locals still describe as remarkable.
Five years on, his death is still felt deeply in Bheramara. Many in the local journalist community regard him as a role model for honest and ethical journalism.
