About 3.7 million people tried to purchase train tickets online from March 3 to 9, Railway Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam said. He shared this information with reporters after visiting Kamalapur Railway Station on the first day of the Eid pilgrimage, Friday, March 13.
The Minister said, “We started continuous online ticket sales from March 3. Passengers have been buying tickets online, and the Eid pilgrimage begins today. When I visited the station, everything was running smoothly. Despite high demand, about 3.7 million people tried to buy tickets, but we were able to sell around 36,000 tickets according to our capacity.”
He added that 21 trains have departed so far, most on schedule, while two trains left about 40 minutes late.
“I spoke with passengers, and they are satisfied. Some raised concerns about maintaining the quality of service. I assured them that the railway service will continue to maintain high standards and will be further improved in the future,” the Minister said.
