5 Bangladeshi Workers Killed in Maldives Gas Cylinder Blast

Five Bangladeshi expatriate workers were killed and two others injured following a gas cylinder explosion on Dhingura Island early Thursday morning.

The Bangladesh High Commission in Male confirmed the fatalities and identified the deceased as Taj Uddin Islam, Md. Sadar Ali, Md. Robin Mollah, Shafiqul Islam, and Md. Noor Nabi Sarkar.

The injured workers, identified as Jamal Uddin and Saddam Hossain, are currently receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital in the capital.

"The High Commission is monitoring the situation closely," the embassy stated. "We are coordinating with local authorities to ensure the bodies are repatriated to Bangladesh as quickly as possible."

The mission expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families and confirmed they are providing necessary support to the survivors.
