The planned transfer of BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas to Singapore for advanced medical treatment has been postponed. Doctors determined his current physical condition is too unstable for international travel.

BNP Health Secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam confirmed the decision, noting that while the family remains confident in local care, they may reconsider a move abroad if his medical board advises it later.

Following a virtual consultation today, the medical board recommended immediate surgery. With family consent, Mirza Abbas underwent brain surgery and is currently under close observation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Earlier today, following Friday prayers, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited Mirza Abbas at Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara to receive a direct briefing from the medical team on his condition.

Mirza Abbas was rushed to the hospital last Wednesday after losing consciousness during Iftar. His family has requested the nation to pray for his speedy recovery.
