


5 candidates will contest in Naogaon-1 (Porsha-Sapahar-Niamatpur) constituency in the 13th national parliamentary election.
Assistant Returning Officer Porsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rakibul Islam confirmed that 5 candidates will contest from this constituency after the withdrawal of nomination papers on Tuesday. On the other hand, on Wednesday, the District Returning Officer allotted symbols to the 5 MP candidates. The contenders are BNP nominated candidate Mostafizur Rahman (paddy sheaf), Jamaat nominated candidate Principal Mahbubul Alam (beard), BNP's expelled leader Independent MP candidate Dr. Salek Chowdhury (motorcycle), Islami Andolan nominated candidate Maoist Abdul Haque Shah (fan) and Jatiya Party nominated candidate Akbar Ali Kalu (plough).
Earlier, a total of 8 candidates had submitted their nomination forms from this seat till the last day of nomination submission. The nomination papers of 3 people were declared cancelled during the scrutiny of nominations.
