Candidates from political alliances and independent platforms are actively campaigning in Faridpur-1 constituency ahead of the 13th National Parliament election.
The constituency includes Boalmari, Alfadanga and Madhukhali upazilas, where party and independent candidates are visiting markets, neighbourhoods and public spaces to meet voters and seek support.
Independent candidate Arifur Rahman Dolan, contesting with the ship symbol, held several public meetings across Madhukhali upazila on Friday. After campaigning throughout the day, he exchanged greetings with traders and local residents at Byasdi Bazar in the evening.
Speaking to voters, Dolan alleged that attacks and legal harassment were continuing in the area. He urged the administration to remain neutral and said voters would reject candidates who rely on muscle power instead of public support.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Jote candidate Dr. Ilias Hossain held a road rally from Friday afternoon until night in different areas near Jahapur Bazar.
Talking to reporters, Dr. Ilias said all 11 alliance partners were working together in the election. However, he claimed that party activists were facing obstacles in some areas and called on the administration to ensure a level playing field for all candidates.
According to election officials, Faridpur-1 has 510,722 registered voters and 196 polling stations. A total of nine candidates, including party nominees and independents, are contesting the seat.
