Nominations of 19 out of 53 candidates in Gazipur cancelled

A total of 19 candidates have been cancelled in three parliamentary constituencies of Gazipur district during the scrutiny of nomination papers ahead of the upcoming national elections.

Gazipur Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Md. Alam Hossain announced these decisions after the scrutiny held at the Bhawal Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner's Office from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday.

In Gazipur-1 (Kaliakoir) constituency, the nomination papers of two candidates were cancelled during the scrutiny. The nomination papers of Jatiya Party's Shafiqul Islam and Ganofront's Md. Atiqul Islam were declared cancelled due to non-submission of proper documents.

In Gazipur-2 constituency, the nomination papers of a maximum of eight candidates were cancelled. The nomination papers of Md. Atiqul Islam, Khandaker Ruhul Amin, Jit Barua and Tapsi Tanmoy Chowdhury were cancelled due to lack of valid support from one percent of voters. The nomination paper of Mahfuzur Rahman Khan of the People's Rights Council was cancelled due to incorrect information being mentioned in the prescribed form.

The nomination paper of Israfil Miah of the Jatiya Party was declared cancelled due to failure to submit the proper affidavit. Shariful Islam's nomination paper was cancelled due to lack of signatures in the form and undertaking, and the nomination paper of independent candidate Salauddin Sarkar was deemed cancelled due to incorrect submission of the form.

On the other hand, the nomination papers of three candidates were cancelled in Gazipur-3 (Sripur) constituency. After scrutiny, the decision was taken to cancel these nomination papers due to errors in the documents and failure to meet the conditions set by the Election Commission.

A total of 9 candidates submitted their nominations in Gazipur-4 constituency Kapasia. After verification, the nominations of 4 of them were cancelled. The nomination of independent candidate Mohammad Shafiullah was cancelled due to the absence of signatures of 1 percent voters, the nomination of Amajanata Dal candidate Md. Zakir Hossain was cancelled due to the failure to submit an affidavit on a judicial stamp of 300 taka and the absence of signature and party number, the nomination of Islami Andolan Bangladesh candidate Md. Kazim Uddin was cancelled due to the failure to submit an affidavit on a judicial stamp of 300 taka, the nomination of independent candidate Md. Abul Hasem was cancelled due to objections to income tax dues and the absence of signatures of some voters.

8 people submitted nominations in Gazipur 5 constituencies. After verification of their nominations, the nominations of 2 people were cancelled. The nomination of Bangladesh Jatiya Party candidate Dr. Shafiuddin Sarkar was cancelled due to the failure to fill the nomination form correctly. The nomination of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis candidate Gazi Ruhul Amin Qasemi has been canceled due to incorrect voter ID card information of the proposer.

In all, a major change is being observed in the electoral equation of the district as the nomination papers of 13 candidates were canceled in these three constituencies of Gazipur in a single day. According to those concerned, only disciplined and qualified candidates will survive in the election due to strict scrutiny.

Gazipur District Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Mohammad Alam Hossain requested the candidates that the candidates have given their names in writing. So you will abide by it. Necessary action will be taken if it is not respected. Action will be taken if anyone campaigns before the symbol is allotted.
