


Marking a significant shift in Bangladesh's political landscape, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman officially commenced his duties at the party chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Sunday.
This move comes just two days after his return to the country following more than 17 years of exile in the United Kingdom. Upon his arrival at 1:40 pm, Tarique was received with floral tributes by the party’s top brass, including Standing Committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdul Moyeen Khan, and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.
A dedicated chamber has been prepared for the Acting Chairman on the second floor of the Gulshan office. To streamline party operations, the BNP has also established a separate chamber for Tarique at the Naya Paltan central office. Rented an additional facility in Gulshan specifically to coordinate activities for the upcoming 13th national election.
Since landing in Dhaka on December 25, Tarique Rahman has engaged in a whirlwind of symbolic and administrative activities. His schedule has including Visiting his mother, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, at Evercare Hospital.
Paying respects at the graves of his father Ziaur Rahman, brother Arafat Rahman Koko, and father-in-law Mahbub Ali Khan, as well as the National Martyrs’ Memorial and the graves of Pilkhana massacre victims.
Completing his voter registration at the Election Training Institute in Agargaon on Saturday.
The resumption of office work signals Tarique's direct involvement in leading the party’s grassroots and national strategies as Bangladesh moves toward its next general election.
