A new nationwide survey by research firm The Deltagram found that 75.3% of Bangladeshis approve of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's performance four months after he took office. The survey also found that 17.5% of respondents were dissatisfied, while 7.2% expressed no opinion.
The poll was conducted between June 12 and June 24 among 3,000 adults across Bangladesh following the BNP-led government's first four months in office.
Support was highest in Rangpur Division at 83.1% and lowest in Dhaka Division at 70.4%. Rural respondents showed stronger approval (78.5%) than urban residents (70.1%). Approval remained broadly consistent across age groups but was slightly lower among people aged over 60, at 70.9%.
According to Deltagram, the survey was independently designed, funded and conducted without outside agencies. Interviewers received 15 days of training, and data on completed interviews, refusals and communication failures were recorded.
Researchers cautioned against drawing firm conclusions from divisional comparisons because smaller regional samples are more vulnerable to statistical variation. Of all interviews, 70% were conducted face-to-face and 30% by mobile phone. Approval ratings were 75.8% and 74.1%, respectively, a difference the researchers said was not statistically significant.
The survey used a two-stage stratified probability sampling method across 150 primary sample areas, with 20 interviews conducted in each area. The national response rate was 75.7%, and the margin of error was approximately ±2.1% to ±2.4% at the 95% confidence level.
