Cox's Bazar-Chittagong Trains Suspended Amid Heavy Rainfall

Heavy rains and severe waterlogging have forced the temporary suspension of all train services on the Cox's Bazar-Chittagong route. No Chittagong-bound trains have departed Cox's Bazar Railway Station since 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8.

Continuous downpours since Tuesday submerged the railway tracks in Chittagong’s Sholashahar area, severing the vital rail link between the two cities.

To minimize public inconvenience, Bangladesh Railway authorities are providing full refunds to all passengers who purchased advance tickets. Travelers were also proactively notified of the cancellations via SMS.

"The railway authorities have informed passengers through text messages, and full refund arrangements are actively in place," confirmed Sujan, a railway ticket agent.

Because of the early notifications and accessible refund process, passenger crowding at Cox's Bazar Railway Station remains exceptionally low, and the overall situation is calm. Officials stated that train operations will resume as soon as the floodwaters recede and the tracks are deemed safe for travel.
